It happened under
the cherry blossoms.
We were a year apart at Brown — Luke studying computer science, Jen one building over in computer engineering — but somehow never crossed paths. It took a Diplo concert neither of us actually wanted to be at for that to change: Luke ended up at the pre-game in Jen's apartment beforehand, and we've been inseparable ever since.
Jen's grandmother, Gaga, had a cherry blossom tree outside her house, and Jen has been in love with peak bloom ever since she was a kid. So since we met in 2021, we make a trip to Brooklyn Botanic Garden every spring to catch it — Jen even built a little tracker so we'd never miss the peak by a day.
That tracker finally paid off this spring, when Luke got down on one knee right as the blossoms hit peak bloom in Central Park's Bridle Path.
